Adding Signal as an Ad Serving Option sovrn.com

Does this sound like you?

“It was frustrating that we got the same revenue per pageview for a reader who was on a page for 10 seconds and a reader that was on a page for 2 minutes, I knew we could do better.”
– Jan Van Der Crabben, Ancient History Encyclopedia

If you’re looking for ways to increase your ad impressions and revenue without adding another traditional ad serving option, look no further than Sovrn’s newest Signal technology.

Signal is a product that allows you to harness the power of your engaged readers through collecting valuable engagement and viewability metrics. Instead of monetizing a static number of ad impressions per page, publishers monetize a much higher number of impressions based on the engagement levels of their readers. This shift can help publishers create 100% additive revenue.

To learn a little bit more about the how the Signal technology works read our intro here.

Let’s talk about adding Signal as another one of your ad serving options. Here are a few of the questions you may be asking yourself:

What ad servers does Signal support?

Signal is ad server agnostic and works across all major ad serving and programmatic systems currently in use in the marketplace. Certain ‘add-on’ features, such as specific line item type blocking, however, are currently supported on DFP Premium and DFP Small Business.

What does implementation time look like?

If Signal is configured through the ad server, implementation can take as a little as five minutes. Here was the comment we received from Jan Van Der Crabben at Ancient History Encyclopedia:

“I was amazed at how fast and easy Signal was to implement. We were up and running in 48 hours with no ops resources needed.”

Will it require any dev resources?

If served through DFP there is no dev work required. The tag was built so that it could be implemented by a commercial ad-ops team without the need for development resources.

Will all types of ads be eligible for Signal?

Yes.The default setting for Signal is to reload any placement that meets the predefined criteria regardless of the type of ad loaded (e.g., sponsorship, programmatic, direct, etc.)
